Automatic world events
RSS can spawn two server-authoritative events: a burning helicopter crash and a locked crate. Both use bounded safe-random placement, require at least five online players, and reserve their area before anything is spawned. Player-built structures and vehicles cannot be placed on an active event zone.
- Helicopter crashes are checked every 120-180 minutes. The wreck burns for 5-7 minutes and its fire is lethal. Day crashes have 4 military crates; night crashes have 6-8. The wreck, crates, and debris are removed after five minutes of inactivity once the event is accessible.
- Locked crates are checked every 150-210 minutes. They can arrive by parachute or appear near a named city. Point at the lock to hack it for 15 minutes; walking away after the hack starts does not cancel it. The crate is removed after five minutes of inactivity after a successful hack.
- Event loot scales only in bounded steps with the online population. Helicrash rockets and raw explosives are mutually exclusive and capped per event.
Airdrops, incoming rain, and clearing weather are announced automatically. Scheduled restart announcements are currently disabled.
GPS
The RSS GPS enables the server map and compass interface. When a location can be resolved, GPS owners also receive the nearest named location in airdrop and location messages. Players without a GPS receive no remote event signal.
The store GPS is delivered as Unturned item 1176 and is converted to the RSS GPS interface by the server plugin when the required asset is available.
